Argentina beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-1 in 2014 FIFA World Cup Group F match played at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

Argentina took an early lead when Bosnia and Herzegovina defender Sead Kolasinac inadvertently knocked Argentinian forward Lionel Messi's free-kick into his own net, after three minutes.

Neither Argentina nor Bosnia and Herzegovina were able to respond to the early goal until the second-half. In the 64th minuted Messi added to Argentina's lead with a trademark run through the opposition's midfield. The Argentine captain then briefly lent the ball to Gonzalo Higauin, and received it on the edge of the penalty area where he shuffled past Bosnian defender Ermin Bicakcic and placed the ball into the net, with the help of the post, for only his second ever World Cup goal.

In the 84th minute Bosnia and Herzegovina narrowed the gap with their forward Vedad Ibisevic squeezed a finish through the Argentine goalkeeper's legs.

Another two teams in Group F, Iran and Nigeria face off on Monday at the Arena da Baixada, Curitiba kicks.
