Türkiye suffered a 2-1 shock loss to the Faroe Islands on Sunday in the sixth match of League C, Group 1 in the UEFA Nations League. 

Neither team was able to break the deadlock for the first half at Torsvollur stadium in Torshavn, the capital of the North Atlantic island group, which is part of Denmark.

The Faroe Islands broke the deadlock in the 51st minute with a close-range finish from their defender Viljormur Davidsen assisted by Solvi Vatnhamar.

After eight minutes, the home side doubled the lead with a goal from Joan Edmundsson.

Türkiye narrowed the gap to one when Serdar Gurler produced a classy finish in the 89th minute.

Despite the loss, leaders Türkiye completed Group 1 with four victories, one draw and one defeat with 13 points.

Luxembourg are in second place with 11 points, while the Faroe Islands are in third spot with eight points.

Lithuania are at the bottom of the group with a single point.
