Turkey lose to Slovenia 72-47 in women’s European basketball championship

ANKARA

The Turkish women’s basketball team lost to Slovenia 72-47 on Thursday in their first match of the 2021 FIBA ​​European Women Basketball Championship.

Quanitra Hollingsworth scored 16 points, while Pelin Derya Bilgic added seven and Olcay Cakır Turgut dropped eight for Turkey.

Lisec had 17 points and Friskovec scored 12 to lead Slovenia in the Group C game at the Rhenus Sport venue in Strasbourg, France.

Turkey will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in the second group game on Friday at 1000GMT.
