Tight title race persists in Turkish football league

ISTANBUL 

Three Istanbul clubs -- Galatasaray, Basaksehir, Besiktas -- are still holding tight to the title race in the top-tier Turkish football league before the last three games.

It is one of the closest title races in the Super Toto Super Lig, as Galatasaray, securing 63 points, are followed by Basaksehir with the same score. Besiktas tally them with 59 points.

In an Istanbul derby match at home on Sunday, Galatasaray defeated Besiktas 2-0 in the title race to lead the league after 21 weeks when Medipol Basaksehir drew Demir Grup Sivasspor 0-0 and moved down the second place.

The leader Galatasaray will still play against the second-placed Basaksehir at home next week.
