Panipak Wongpattanakit of Thailand claimed the gold medal for women's taekwondo in the 49-kilogram category in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Saturday.

She defeated Spanish Adriana Cerezo Iglesias 11-10 in the final.

Meanwhile, Turkish athlete Rukiye Yildirim lost to Abishag Semberg from Israel in the bronze medal game.

Semberg beat Yildirim 27-22 to seal the bronze medal.
