Several tennis players around the world, including Nick Kyrgios, John Isner, and Marin Cilic, showed their support to Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic and criticized the treatment of Australian authorities.

Australian player Nick Kyrgios stated that the authorities should have handled the situation better, saying, "Look, I definitely believe in taking action. I got vaccinated because of others and for my mum's health, but how we are handling Novak's situation is bad, really bad. Like these memes, headlines, this is one of our great champions, but at the end of the day, he is human. Do better."

US player John Isner said that Djokovic followed the rules and there's no justification for the treatment he is receiving, "What Novak is going through right now is not right. There's no justification for the treatment he's receiving. He followed the rules, was allowed to enter Australia, and now he's being detained against his own will. This is such a shame."

Croatian athlete Marin Cilic expressed that it is definitely not a great picture for tennis, and he wished the situation to be resolved soon in an interview.

The Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) stated that they were diligently monitoring the situation and stressed the freedom to choose to be vaccinated.

The Serbian star thanked all his supporters and said he felt appreciated.

Nine-time Australian Open champion Djokovic was denied entry into Australia after his visa was canceled for failing to comply with COVID-19 requirements.

After he landed at Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport, Djokovic was quizzed by Border Force late on Wednesday on his visa status.

The 34-year-old player now remains under immigration detention at the Park Hotel in Melbourne.

Djokovic is still refusing to reveal whether or not he is vaccinated against the coronavirus.
