Novak Djokovic will miss next month’s 2023 Rolex Shanghai Masters, the 36-year-old tennis legend has announced.
"Over the years, some of the best support I receive anywhere in the world is in China. Shanghai has always been one of my favorite tournaments in the season," the reigning US Open champion wrote on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday.
"I will be missing my NoleFam (Djokovic's official fan club) in China. I hope that I can come back to China in the future and play in front of all of you again" he added.
Djokovic bagged his 24th Grand Slam singles title by beating Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in the 2023 US Open final on Sept. 10.
With this achievement, the Serbian legend, who also became the oldest US Open champion, bagged his third major championship this year and equaled Margaret Court’s all-time record.
The Shanghai Masters is an outdoor hard court men's tennis tournament held every October at Shanghai's Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena.
