ANKARA 

Slovakia bagged a ticket to next summer's UEFA EURO 2024 finals after beating Iceland 4-2 in a Group J match on Thursday.

Slovakian midfielder Lukas Haraslin scored two goals against Iceland in Bratislava to play an important role in his nation's win.

Juraj Kucka and Ondrej Duda from a penalty kick were the other scorers for Slovakia, who ended the group in second place behind an already qualified Portugal.

Orri Oskarsson and Andri Gudjohnsen scored for Iceland.

Portugal beat Liechtenstein 2-0 in another Group J match in Vaduz. Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Cancelo scored for the visitors on Thursday.

The Portuguese national team dominated the group, winning all nine of their matches in this stage to reach the EURO 2024 earlier than Slovakia.

Second-place Slovakia have 19 points to be in a five-point lead over third-place Luxembourg, who have a game remaining in this group.

Luxembourg on Thursday hammered Bosnia Herzegovina 4-1 at home, but it was not enough for them to challenge the Slovakian team.

The EURO 2024 will be held in Germany.
