GENEVA

Former Formula One driver Michael Schumacher has been released from University Hospital of Lausanne on Tuesday.

German F1 legend's agent Sabine Kehm said that Schumacher's health status has improved in recent weeks and his treatment will be carried out at home.

After thanking Swiss hospital officials, Kehm added that the private life of Schumacher's relatives should be respected.

Seven-time Formula One World Champion "Schumi" has a home in Gland, 30 kilometers away from Lausanne in Switzerland.

On December 29, 2013, the 45-year-old legendary F1 driver was injured a severe head injury while skiing in the French Alps.

The German driver was operated on twice in a French hospital in the city of Grenoble and has been kept in a private cooled room to preserve his brain from further damage.

On December 31, Schumacher's doctor Jean-Francois Payen pointed out that his recovery could be lengthy.

In a coma, Schumacher was operated in the French hospital where his treatment was ongoing. Late January, doctors gradually began reducing his dosage of medicine, leading to Schumacher’s gradual return to consciousness. He was then sent to the University Hospital of Lausanne on June 16.
