ISTANBUL
Reigning NBA winners San Antonio Spurs, who are going to meet Turkish Basketball League's defending champions Fenerbahce Ulker on Saturday, October 11 as part of the NBA Global Games, have arrived in Istanbul.
NBA Western Conference side Spurs, who were recently beaten 94-93 by German team Alba Berlin by Jamel McLean's buzzer-beater in the O2 World Arena, landed in Istanbul early on Thursday morning.
Spurs will encounter Fenerbahce Ulker on Saturday at the Ulker Sports Arena, tipping off at 19.00 local time (1700 GMT).
Meanwhile, Spurs' French power forward Boris Diaw, 32, told Anadolu Agency: "Turkish people have an extreme passion for basketball and they have a fascinating atmosphere (in Turkey)."
Diaw said he did not know Fenerbahce Ulker very well and the last time that he played against them was 13 years ago.
Nevertheless, he praised the Turkish side as being a "good team".
