Portugal hammer Switzerland 4-0 in UEFA Nations League

ANKARA  

Portugal beat Switzerland 4-0 in a UEFA Nations League match Sunday as the victors' superstar Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals.

Ronaldo, 37, scored in the 35th and 39th minutes at Lisbon's Jose Alvalade Stadium.

William Carvalho scored the opener in the 15th minute.

In the 68th minute, Portugal's right-back Joao Cancelo scored an open goal after skipping past Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel outside the area.

Cancelo made the result 4-0 for his team.

Portugal are leading League A - Group 2 with four points.

Following a 2-2 draw with Spain in Prague, Czech Republic have the same points as Portugal to pursue the leaders.

Spain have two points to be third in the group.

Switzerland lost both of their two matches to sit at the bottom of Group 2.

In the next fixture, Portugal will face Czech Republic in Lisbon.

Meanwhile, Spain will visit Switzerland in Geneva.

The upcoming matches will be played Thursday.
