Polish top seed in women's tennis and Paris 2024 Olympic Games favorite Iga Swiatek lost out to China's Qinwen Zheng in a Thursday semifinal match. 

Zheng, 21, beat World No.1 Swiatek, 23, with straight sets; 6-2, 7-5 at Paris' Court Philippe-Chatrier to reach women's gold medal game on Saturday.

Swiatek, who won four French Open titles of the past five years at this stadium, now has a chance for a medal and will fight for an Olympic bronze on Friday.

In women's gold medal match, Zheng will play against either Slovakia's Anna Karolina Schmiedlova or Croatia's Donna Vekic.

The Paris Games will end on Aug. 11.
