ANKARA
Norwegian skier Therese Johaug won the first gold medal of the Beijing Winter Olympics on Saturday.
The 33-year-old sealed the gold in women's 7.5km + 7.5km skiathlon of cross-country skiing after finishing in 44 minutes and 13.7 seconds.
Natalia Nepryaeva representing the Russian Olympic Committee bagged silver (44:43.9), while Austria's Teresa Stadlober won bronze (44:44.2).
