NBA: Nets snap Lakers' winning streak
James misses layup, Davis misses buzzer-beater three pointer as Nets defeated Lakers 104-102 at Staples Center
The Los Angeles Lakers’ four-game winning streak ended on Tuesday night as they were beaten 104-102 by the Brooklyn Nets.
Point guard Spencer Dinwiddie, with a total of 23 points, was the night’s hero for the Nets.
With the score tied at 102-102, he performed what proved to be the winning basket with 28.8 seconds on the clock.
His jump shot left the Lakers trailing 104-102 in the dying moments at the Staples Center.
However, the home team spurned two golden chances to go ahead; LeBron James came agonizingly close with a layup on the 10-second mark, before Anthony Davis missed a wide-open 3-point attempt right at the buzzer.
The other top performers for the Nets were Caris LeVert, who scored 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, and French shooting guard Luwawu-Cabarrot, who added 13 points.
For the home team, James finished with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists.
Seven-time All-Star Davis had 26 points and 8 rebounds, while power forward Kyle Kuzma came off the bench to add 14 points.
Despite the defeat, the Lakers maintain their lead in the NBA Western Conference with 49 wins and 14 losses.
Bulls beat Cavaliers
Rookie Coby White scored with 20 points, pulled down 5 rebounds and dished out 5 assists as the Chicago Bulls defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 108-103.
The Bulls were also helped by Wendell Carter’s 17 points, and 15 points apiece from Lauri Markkanen, Denzel Valentine and Otto Porter.
For the Cavaliers, Collin Sexton and Andre Drummond scored 26 and 21 points, respectively.
Turkish international Cedi Osman had 9 points and 6 rebounds.
The Bulls now have 22 wins and 43 losses, while the Cavaliers have 19 wins and 46 losses.
