Roma manager Jose Mourinho bought youngster Felix Afena-Gyan a pair of sneakers Monday that cost €800 after the 18-year-old netted a match-winning goal against Genoa in an Italian league match.

In a video that Ghanaian forward Afena-Gyan posted on Instagram, Mourinho kept his promise to buy the teen new shoes as a gift.

Afena-Gyan had his new shoes at Roma's training ground.

Roma took a 2-0 road win against Genoa on Sunday as Afena-Gyan, who was subbed in during the second half, scored twice, including a long-range effort in stoppage time.

"I promised him a very expensive pair of shoes, for €800 ($900), and he came to me to make sure I didn't forget," Mourinho told reporters after the win.

Afena-Gyan joined Roma in October and has a contract with the Italian club until 2025.
