Lando Norris takes pole in F1 Mexico Grand Prix
McLaren driver beats Ferrari duo of Leclerc, Hamilton to secure top spot
ISTANBUL
McLaren driver Lando Norris claimed the pole position on Saturday for the 20th round of the Formula 1 World Championship, the Mexican Grand Prix.
During the qualifying session at the 4.3-kilometer (2.7-mile) Hermanos Rodriguez Circuit in Mexico City, Norris clocked a best lap time of 1 minute 15.586 seconds to secure the top spot.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished 0.262 seconds behind to take second, while fellow Brit Lewis Hamilton, also driving for Ferrari, qualified third, 0.352 seconds off the pace.
Championship leader Oscar Piastri will start from eighth spot on the grid.
The Mexican Grand Prix will take place at 1900GMT Sunday.
