ANKARA 

Portugal right-back Joao Cancelo extended his contract with Manchester City until 2027, the English club announced on Tuesday.

"The 27-year-old’s new deal means he will remain at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2027, by which time he will have spent eight years at the Club," the English Premier League leaders said in a statement.

Cancelo said he is "incredibly happy" to ink a two-year contract extension.

"City players have everything they need to reach their full potential, with amazing facilities, world-class teammates and an incredible manager who pushes us every single day."

Having joined Manchester City from Juventus in 2019, he helped his team win the 2021 Premier League title.

He scored three goals and made eight assists in 30 matches this season, and has also represented Portugal 31 times.
