Italy: Swiss footballer Florijana Ismaili found dead

ANKARA

Swiss female football player Florijana Ismaili was found dead in Italy on Tuesday, according to the Swiss Football Association (ASF). The ASF said on its website that the country mourns for Ismaili, 24.

"The Swiss Football Association has a painful duty to announce the death of the Swiss international Florijana Ismaili. We are all saddened, shocked and much in pain," the ASF said.

It also offered its condolences to the family and friends of Ismaili.

Also, Liverpool's Swiss winger Xherdan Shaqiri said on Twitter that he is shocked by the death of Ismaili.

"I am deeply shocked by the death of Florijana Ismaili. My family and I would like to express our condolences to the Ismaili family and her relatives," Shaqiri tweeted.

Ismaili, who is of Albanian descent, went missing on Saturday in Lake Como in north Italy.

Since 2014, Ismaili had appeared in 33 matches for Switzerland.
