The country leads all in medals after first game events, Turkey holds second spot

Italy sits atop the list of medal-winning countries with 7 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze, while Turkey ranks second with 3 golds as the first day events end at 2013 Mediterranean Games.
Italy also tops the all-time list in the sports event, held every four years since 1951, with 750 gold medals.
Turkey's golds were won by Bunyamin Sezer in weightlifting, Ali Sari in Taekwondo, and Ebru Sahin in Judo.
