IOC head visits olympic village of 17th Mediterranean Games in Mersin

MERSIN (AA) - President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Jacques Rogge visited Friday the olympic village of 17th Mediterranean Games in Turkey's southern city of Mersin, saying he liked the opening ceremony very much.

Having watched the opening ceremony on Thursday in Mersin, Rogge lunched together with head of international Mediterranean Games Committee Amar Addadi, Sports General head Mehmet Baykan, head of Turkish National Olympics Committee (TMOK) Ugur Erdener, head of Istanbul 2020 Candidacy Committee Hasan Arat, General Secretary of TMOK Nese Gundogan and member of board of TMOK Oktar Tertemiz.

"You achieved a big project. I want to congratulate you all because you prepared everything in only 18 months. It's very important," Rogge said. "I liked the opening ceremony very much. It was creative and different from previous examples. It was a great show, which reflected the Mediterranean culture very well."

 Rogge stated whole world has now an eye on Turkey, as the host of Mediterranean Games.
