The French women's national basketball team qualified for the Tokyo 2020 semifinals after a 67-64 win against Spain on Wednesday.

French guard Marine Johannes led her team, scoring 18 points against Spain at Saitama Super Arena. She was the highest scorer in the match.

French power forward Gabby Williams racked up 11 points.

Spanish center-power forward Astou Ndour posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Maite Cazorla scored 12 points for Spain.

In the next phase, France will take on host nation Japan, while the US will face Serbia.

The semifinals will be held on Friday.

The losing teams in the semis will play a bronze medal game on Saturday, while the match for gold is scheduled for Sunday.
