France barely defeated African team Nigeria 2-0, but thanks to the brace scored in the last minutes of the game played at Estadio Nacional, Brasilia on Monday, France succeeded in reaching the Quarter-finals in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
In the 19th minute, Nigeria's goal was disallowed as Nigerian forward, Emmanuel Emenike was caught in an offside position. During the first half, France had many opportunities which they squandered.
Nigerian midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi had to be subbed-out after French midfielder, Blaise Matuidi's harsh foul in the 54th minute.
In the 79th minute, France finally broke the deadlock when their wonderkid Paul Pogba found the net with a header after Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama fumbled the ball from a corner kick, 1-0.
In stoppage time, France clinched victory when Nigerian center back Joseph Yobo scored an own goal in the box, 2-0.
After the win, France, known as "Les Bleus" (The Blues) - advanced to the quarter final stage in 2014 FIFA World Cup to meet the winners of Germany vs Algeria matchup in the next round while Nigeria has been eliminated from the tournament.
