Football: Sevilla to meet Dnipro in Europa League final

Ukrainian club Dnipro have qualified for the UEFA Europa League final for the first time in their history.

Ukraine’s Dnipro eliminated Italian heavyweights Napoli in the UEFA Europa League semifinals 1-0 in Kiev Thursday night, qualifying for the final match for the first time.

Home team Dnipro broke the deadlock in the 58th minute with a header by Ukrainian forward Yevhen Seleznyov. He also scored in the first leg. Yevhen Konoplyanka made the assist.

The victorious side Dnipro won 2-1 on aggregate and went onto the final in the Europa League.

Meanwhile, in the other semifinal game, Sevilla eased past Fiorentina 2-0 in Italy. The Spanish team won 5-0 on aggregate. Carlos Bacca and Daniel Carrico scored.

Italian teams Fiorentina and Napoli have been eliminated.

The winners of 2006, 2007 and 2014 UEFA Europa League, Sevilla will now meet Dnipro in the final match to be held at the National Stadium Warsaw on May 27.

Dnipro is the second Ukrainian club to advance to the Europa League final after Shakhtar Donetsk, which had won the trophy in 2009.
