ANKARA
Argentine defender Javier Mascherano signed a contract extension on Sunday linking him to Spanish club FC Barcelona until 2018.
Catalan club "Barca" confirmed the deal on their website and indicated that the buyout clause was set at 100 million euros (approximately $136 million)
Transferred from England's Liverpool club in 2010, the 30-year-old Argentine international has played for Barcelona in 184 matches so far, winning in the process a UEFA Champions League title as well as two Spanish Liga championships.
Barcelona's Argentine defender will be playing for his country in the 2014 FIFA World Cup which starts in Brazil on Thursday, June 12.
