ISTANBUL
Fenerbahce were held to a 2-2 draw with Zenit St. Petersburg on Thursday in a charity match to raise funds for the victims of last month’s earthquakes in Türkiye.
Playing at Istanbul's Ulker Stadium, Mert Hakan Yandas and Bora Aydinlik scored for the Turkish club while Malcom and Claudinho each produced for the Russian football side.
All proceeds from the fundraiser match went to help the victims and survivors of the powerful earthquakes that rocked Türkiye on Feb. 6.
A total of 13,000 fans watched the clash at the stadium.
The magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 quakes have impacted some 13 million people across 11 provinces, including Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, Elazig and Sanliurfa.
At least 50,096 people died in the two strong earthquakes that jolted southern Türkiye.
