English Premier League gives 2-point deduction to Everton

ANKARA

The English Premier League announced on Monday that Everton will receive a two-point deduction.

"An independent Commission has given an immediate two-point deduction to Everton FC for a breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs) for the period ending Season 2022-23," the statement of the league read.

With this deduction, Everton's total points deducted for this season now stand at 8 points. The Premier League had previously announced in February that the club's initial 10-point deduction for breaching the PSRs was reduced to six after their appeal.

Before the penalty, Everton was positioned 15th in the league with 29 points. Following the deduction, they dropped to 16th place with 27 points.

Founded in 1878, Everton, based in Liverpool, has won the English title nine times but has yet to secure it in the Premier League era, which began in 1992.

Meanwhile, the Toffees are the archrivals of Liverpool.
