LONDON
This weekend saw English Premier League leaders Chelsea increase their lead over nearest rivals Manchester City to seven points.
The London club defeated Aston Villa 2-1 on Saturday thanks to goals from Belgian attacking midfielder Eden Hazard and Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic in an away match.
Villa's single goal was scored by Danish center-back Jores Okore.
Having drawn twice and lost one match in their last three encounters, current champions Manchester City snatched a 1-1 draw against Hull City in the last minute at home.
City was 1-0 behind after David Meyler's goal in the 35th minute; however, they equalized when James Milner found the net in stoppage time.
Manchester United met West Ham away where The Hammers took the lead when Cheikhou Kouyate scored in the second half.
United midfielder Daley Blind got his team off the hook in injury time for a 1-1 draw despite United left-back Luke Shaw being sent off in the last minutes of the play.
Spurs hosted archrivals Arsenal in the North London derby. The Gunners’ German attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil scored the opening goal of the derby in the 11th minute and the first half ended 1-0.
Twenty-one-year-old Tottenham forward Harry Kane scored the equalizer in 56th minute and the winning goal at the end of the clash which saw Arsenal's Chilean star forward Alexis Sanchez absent due to injury.
Liverpool drew against Everton 0-0 in the Merseyside derby. The Reds’ Turkish-German midfielder Emre Can played for 90 minutes.
In the top scorers' list Chelsea's Spanish forward Diego Costa remains on top with 17 goals. Costa is followed by Manchester City's Argentine forward Sergio Aguero on 14 goals. Queens Park Rangers' Charlie Austin found the net 13 times while Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez and Tottenham's prolific forward Harry Kane have scored 12 goals each in the league.
