ISTANBUL
Chelsea forward Armando Broja is expected to miss the remainder of the 2022-23 season because of a knee injury, Chelsea announced Wednesday.
"Scan results from those assessments have unfortunately confirmed an anterior cruciate ligament rupture and that surgery will be required," Chelsea said in a statement.
The Blues said Broja sustained the injury during the first half of Sunday’s friendly match against Aston Villa and "underwent further assessment following the club’s return to England."
The 21-year-old Albanian previously played for Vitesse and Southampton. He scored one goal and made one assist in 19 matches for Chelsea.
