Barcelona sit at top of La Liga as they beat Real Mallorca 5-2 at Nou Camp in their 15th league match on Saturday.

Argentine star Lionel Messi was on fire with his impressive hat-trick over Real Mallorca.

This was Messi's 35th La Liga hat-trick, breaking the record of former Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

In addition to Messi's outstanding performance, Luis Suarez's and Antoine Griezmann's goals contributed to Barcelona's victory.

Barcelona gained their fourth consecutive win as they are top of the table with 34 points.

Another title contender Real Madrid beat Espanyol 2-0 at home on Saturday, following Barcelona with the same points in the standings.

Real Madrid's goals were scored by defender Raphael Varane and forward Karim Benzema.

Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet in the famous El Clasico showdown in December.

The El Clasico between the fierce rivals will take place on Dec.18 at the Nou Camp, the Spanish Football Federation previously announced.

Sevilla drew with Osasuna 1-1 in an away match on Sunday while they are in third place with 31 points.

Real Betis captain Joaquin Sanchez made his way into the record books after he became the oldest player to have a hat-trick in La Liga at the age of 38.

Joaquin's hat-trick led Real Betis to victory over Athletic Bilbao 3-2 at Estadio Benito Villamarin in Sunday's clash.

Olympique Marseille record sixth win in row at Ligue 1

French Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) beat Montpellier 3-1 with a comeback to remain comfortable at the top of the standings with 39 points in an away match on Saturday.

Olympique Marseille maintain their impressive performance with the sixth consecutive win in the league after they beat Bordeaux 3-1 at home in Saturday's match.

Leaders PSG are followed by Olympique Marseille with 34 points and Lille with 28 points.
