BARCELONA, Spain
Barcelona unveiled their latest signing on Thursday - Turkey’s Arda Turan.
Turan, 28, was pictured standing Barcelona’s crest at the Nou Camp stadium.
"It's a big day for me and I am very happy,” he told the club’s website. “My transfer to Barcelona is very important for my career and country.”
Turan, who began his career at Galatasaray, will attend a press conference on Friday after signing a 34 million euro ($37.5 million), five-year-deal - making him Turkey’s most valuable player of all time.
He scored 22 goals in 177 matches during a four-year spell at Atletico Madrid, where he won the Europa Cup in his first season. In 2013, the Turkish star helped Atletico win their first Copa del Rey in 17 years.
The following year saw the team win the Spanish league and qualify for UEFA Champions League final for the first time in 40 years.
