Aston Villa's French midfielder Boubacar Kamara suffered a major knee injury and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, according to the team’s manager.

"We had two injuries for a long time, for the whole season – Tyrone Mings and Emiliano Buendia – and now it’s the same with Boubacar Kamara. His injury is an ACL and he's going to be out for the rest of the season," Unai Emery said at a news conference Friday.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in an English Premier League match against Manchester United that Aston Villa lost 2-1 at home last weekend.

"Maybe, more or less, in September or October he is coming back," added Emery.

A Pure Olympique Marseille product, Kamara left the French club for Aston Villa in 2022.

The French international will also miss the UEFA EURO 2024 that will start June 14 in Germany.
