AC Milan's French goalkeeper Mike Maignan on Wednesday underwent a wrist surgery to be out of action for 10 weeks.

The Italian football club said in a statement that Maignan, 26, had an arthroscopic exam Wednesday that identified a ligament injury in his left wrist.

He was successfully operated as "a percutaneous pedicle screw was also fixed to the scaphoid bone" because of a vascular problem.

Following the surgery, AC Milan said that Maignan will rest for six weeks before his rehabilitation and will be out for 10 weeks.

Maignan left Lille to join AC Milan in July 2021.

He won the French Ligue 1 title with Lille in the 2020-21 season.

Separately, Maignan helped France win the 2021 UEFA Nations League.
