The last four games in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup Round 16 were played on Sunday with Lithuania, Serbia, Turkey and Brazil advancing to the quarterfinals in the tournament.

Lithuania had a hard time eliminating New Zealand with a 76-71 defeat in the round 16 match played at Sant Jordi, Barcelona. Lithuania won the clash thanks to the remarkable individual efforts of Jonas Valanciunas. The 22-year-old Toronto Raptors player scored 22 points and took 13 rebounds. New Zealand's 25-year-old guard Corey Webster was on fire with 26 points but his efforts were not enough to secure a win for New Zealand.

Serbia squashed Greece 90-72 in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Madrid to advance to the quarterfinals. 22-year-old Serbian shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, who was signed by Fenerbahce Ulker this summer, was red-hot with his score of 21 points. He was followed by his fellow teammate at Fenerbahce Ulker, Nemanja Bjelica who completed the game with eight points as well as 10 rebounds. In addition, Serbian star playmaker guard Milos Teodosic scored 13 points and center Miroslav Raduljica finished the clash with 16 points and six rebounds.

Turkey knocked Australia out of the tournament in round 16 with guard Emir Preldzic's three point shot with five seconds to go to advance to the quarterfinals in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The game in Barcelona ended with a Turkish victory, 65-64.

Turkish guards Preldzic and Sinan Guler were key players for the win with each scoring 16 points. Both players were followed by playmaker guard Ender Arslan completing the game with 11 points.

Australian center Aron Baynes scored 15 points, his teammate Matthew Dellavedova completed the match with 13 points. Their fellow teammate Joe Ingles - who plays for the latest Turkish Airlines Euroleague winners Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv, and the Chicago Bulls' rookie forward Cameron Bairstow managed to score 10 points each.

Australia missed nine free throws out of 19 throughout the game while Turkey missed four out of 14. They found many second chance baskets by taking 13 offensive rebounds, however,  they were eliminated by the "12 Giant Men" after Preldzic's last ditch attempt scoring a 3-point shot to win the match.
