Ukraine claims 30 injured in Russian strike on Shostka railway station
Zelenskyy condemns attack, terming it 'a savage Russian drone strike'

ISTANBUL
At least 30 people were injured in an alleged Russian strike targeting a railway station and passenger trains in the city of Shostka, Ukraine’s northeastern Sumy region, Ukrainian officials said on Saturday.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said the attack hit both the railway station and passenger trains, calling it “a double targeted strike.”
“Rescuers, medics, and railway workers are working at the scene -- they are helping the victims and assessing the extent of the damage,” she said.
Svyrydenko accused Moscow of deliberately attacking civilian infrastructure and crowded areas.
“The world has no right to ignore it. Ukraine needs more air defense systems, tougher sanctions against Russia, and decisive actions from partners. Only this can stop Russian terror and save people’s lives,” she said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also condemned the attack, calling it “a savage Russian drone strike.”
“The Russians could not have been unaware that they were striking civilians. This is terror the world must not ignore,” Zelenskyy said, adding that at least 30 people, including Ukrzaliznytsia railway staff and passengers, were among the injured.
He urged Ukraine’s partners to turn their “resolute statements” into concrete actions, stressing that “lip service is not enough now -- strong action is needed.”
The Ukrainian national railway company earlier confirmed that a drone hit a passenger train on the Shostka-Kyiv route.
Russia did not immediately respond to the Ukrainian claims.
