Russia on Friday claimed that its forces have captured two settlements in Ukraine’s Donetsk region over the past day.

According to the Defense Ministry, the village of Nadiivka came under Russian control following an operation by the Tsentr (Center) group of forces, while Novosilka was seized by the Vostok (Eastern) group.

In total, Russia claimed to have taken six Ukrainian settlements in Donetsk and Kharkiv, as well as recapturing a village in its own Kursk region over the past week.

Russian forces also conducted 11 strikes using precision weapons and drones this week, targeting Ukraine’s military infrastructure and energy facilities supplying the military-industrial complex, the ministry stated.

Additionally, the ministry reported that air defense systems shot down two Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jets, two JDAM guided aerial bombs, 36 US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, 17 French-made Hammer guided bombs, an Uragan multiple rocket launcher, and a Neptun anti-ship missile modified for ground attacks, as well as 790 drones.

Ukraine has yet to comment on these claims, and independent verification remains challenging due to the ongoing conflict.
