ISTANBUL

Six servicemen were killed in a fire on Monday in Russia’s Kursk region, state media reported, citing a source from the Emergency Situations Ministry.

“At about 10:40 a.m. (0740GMT) near the village of Ulanok, Sudzhansky district, Kursk region, a fire broke out in a military dugout. There were seven servicemen inside: one received burns, six died," a source from the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry told TASS.

The report said that ammunition stored in the dugout detonated due to the fire, while the cause of the fire itself is under investigation.

No official statement has been made by the Russian Foreign Ministry on the incident.
