Four people were killed and five others injured in Ukraine's missile attack on the city of Lgov in Russia's Kursk region, Governor Aleksandr Khinshtein said on Wednesday.

Three victims died at the scene, while one succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Five others were wounded, including a woman in critical condition, and all were hospitalized, the governor said on Telegram.

The attack damaged and set fire to one five-story and two one-story residential buildings, prompting authorities to evacuate the affected residents, he noted.

In a separate statement, the Russian Investigative Committee said the attack was carried out using Western-made HIMARS missiles.

Ukraine has yet to respond to Russia's claims, and independent verification is difficult due to the ongoing war.
