Russian flag carrier Aeroflot cancelled and suspended its flights to European destinations following the closure of EU airspace as Russia launched a war on Ukraine.

Aeroflot will not fly to Slovenia's Ljubljana until March 26, Bulgaria's Sofia until May 24, Bucharest (Romania) until March 26, Riga (Latvia) until March 26, Prague (Czechia) until March 26, Warsaw (Poland) till May 25, London (United Kingdom) until May 23, Dublin (Ireland) until May 23 and Chisinau (Moldova) until March 04, the carrier announced on Sunday.

Russian planes, including private jets of oligarchs, will “no more be able to land in, take off, or overfly the territory of the EU,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said at a news conference on Sunday.

In a bid to protest Russia's war on its western neighbor, a number of its banks have been kicked out of the SWIFT international banking system.

Russia's airlines have been also banned from traveling in Canadian airspace.
