Defenders of Ukraine lost sense of time but not sense of dignity: Interior minister
Situation in Ukraine 'remains consistently difficult,' defenders do everything for victory, says Denys Monastyrskiy

KYIV, Ukraine
Ukraine's interior minister said Monday that all defenders "have lost their sense of time of day and night" but none of those who defend Ukraine today "have lost their sense of dignity."
Speaking to reporters on the fifth day of Ukraine's defense against Russia, Denys Monastyrskiy said he communicates with a lot of soldiers of the National Guard, the National Police, the Border Guard and the Emergency Situations Service, adding they are doing "everything possible to achieve victory as much as possible and as soon as possible."
"After all, Ukraine is us and we are Ukraine," he said.
He noted that currently the fighting is going on all over the southern and eastern parts of the country.
"All are fighting, including the units of the National Police. There are fake reports that the police are leaving the positions. It’s not true. It doesn’t reflect the reality," he said.
Speaking on the humanitarian situation, Monastyrskiy said there are several “critical places” where the housing infrastructure of the settlements was destroyed.
He went on to say that the situation is now being addressed through the Red Cross to provide a "corridor for the evacuation of people" living in those settlements.
Monastyrskiy noted that Ukraine's Emergency Situations Service has now increased tens of times due to the war as it provides help to the nation in many directions.
"The National Police is also very helpful to the Armed Forces which communicates with people about the movement of enemy vehicles. This information is being transmitted to the Armed Forces of Ukraine which inflict accurate blows on (enemy) equipment from all possible armaments which we have," he said.
He also said the situation in the country "remains consistently difficult."
Moscow’s war on Ukraine entered its fifth day on Monday, with the latest reports indicating that Russian troops were heading toward the capital, Kyiv.
The war has been met with outrage from the international community, with the European Union, UK, Japan and US implementing a range of economic sanctions on Russia.
At least 102 civilians have been killed so far in Ukraine and more than 500,000 others have fled the country, according to UN officials.
Ukraine says more than 350 civilians have been killed and over 1,600 injured during attacks by Russian forces.
