ISTANBUL
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met on Friday for the very first time on the sidelines of a gathering of their Southeast Asian counterparts in Malaysia, the state-run Global Times reported.
The two top diplomats are likely to discuss global issues such as tariffs, trade, tech restrictions, Ukraine, Taiwan, and the South China Sea.
This is the first in-person meeting between the two since Rubio took office in January.
The two have spoken only once, over the phone, in January.
