DOHA
Qatar reacted to the continued holding of Mohammed Morsi by the Egyptian Army since the military coup that ousted Egypt's first democratically-elected president.
Qatar, a main supporter of Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan), expressed concern over the ongoing bloodshed in Egypt after clashes between supporters and opponents of Morsi.
The Qatari Ministry also stated that Doha was astonished at the continued holding of Morsi, stressing that the only way out of the crisis was through dialogue.
Morsi is kept at an undisclosed location by the army since his ouster on July 3 after mass protests against him. The army says he is being held for his own safety.
The country's powerful military also announced what it said a "roadmap" which suspended the constitution and appointed head of the Egypt's top court as caretaker president.
Referring to the detention of Ikhwan leaders, the Qatari Foreign Ministry argued that dialogue was not possible in the absence of one of the parties.
Pro-Morsi demonstrators have since taken to the streets nationwide for mass demonstrations and sit-ins to defend his democratic legitimacy and demand his reinstatement.
At least 190 Egyptians have been killed in clashes between Morsi's supporters and opponents since June 30.
