TUNIS
The Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) has claimed responsibility for last month's attack on Tunisian Interior Minister Loutfi Ben Jeddou's family house.
In a Friday statement on an Islamist website, the militant group said that it had carried out the attack on the minister's house in the western Kasserine town.
Four security personnel had been killed when militants attacked Ben Jeddou's family house in Kasserine last month.
Meanwhile, the AQIM said that it had been responsible for an August attack on an army unit in the western Chambi Mountains on border with Algeria, in which eight army personnel were killed.
Following the attack, the Tunisian army has launched a major security operation against militants holed up in the mountainous area.
This was the first time the AQIM claimed responsibility for attacks in Tunisia.
