Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Russian resort of Sochi Tuesday for talks on the Syria crisis.
Putin said that the current situation in Syria was "a source of serious concern" and noted that himself and Netanyahu agreed that to restore security in the region it was necessary to maintain dialogue through "personal and special units."
Putin underlined to prevent a further escalation of violence in Syria, fighting had to be stopped and a political solution must be devised.
Netanyahu said that the nations of the region wanted to live in peace and that Israel had the duty to "protect its own citizens."
