New Turkey is where the national will wins: PM Erdogan

ISTANBUL

ISTANBUL (AA) – “Justice and Development Party’s (AK Party) success to this day, the increasing interest and favor of our people, are the signs to predict the results of the elections on 30th of March,” Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Saturday.

During his meeting with journalists at his office in Dolmabahce, Istanbul, Erdogan said Turkey’s stable and peaceful growth has been disturbing some people and that these people are now attempting to stop this growth.

“Old Turkey had an environment suitable for certain people’s benefits, but it was an environment damaging our people,” Erdogan said, adding, “The New Turkey is where the national will wins and it has become a nightmare for those certain people who had benefits in the Old Turkey.”

Underlining that the anti-graft operations that took place on December 17 had many different aspects and was not a regular legal process, Erdogan stated that, “There are many different goals in this package, which seem like legal operations.”

“We stand by the law, even if it is my child who comes into question. However it is clear that the goal is not a corruption probe,” said Turkish PM and added that, “It is very obvious that the goal is the assassination of Turkey’s national will.” Erdogan said during his speech that the anti-graft operation is clearly targeting Turkey’s growth.

Erdogan added that the positive side to these operations was, “The capabilities of an organization, which infiltrated within the government was clearly seen by our citizens.”

Reminding the critics from some members of the jurisdiction regarding his "strong language," Turkish PM stated, “If you are making trials in an aggresive manner, then you should expect some reaction from head of the executive people,” and added that, “We, as AK Party, have come to power with the will of nation, however you (jurisdiction) are in your positions through assignments.”

Turkey’s PM emphasized that during the anti-graft operations, sovereignty was tried to be removed from people and to be transferred to jurisdiction. “We have stood against this and will always do so,” said Erdogan. Adding that the governments in Turkey come to power through elections, Erdogan underlined “We will never let powers apart from the nation’s will to change a government."
