CAIRO
Supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi staged fresh rallies on Friday to mark six months since the violent dispersal of pro-democracy sit-ins in Cairo.
Hundreds of pro-democracy protesters were killed when security forces violently cleared two pro-Morsi sit-ins in the Rabaa al-Adawiya and Nahda squares in mid-August.
Waving the four-fingered Rabaa salute in memory of the victims, pro-democracy protesters staged four rallies in the southern Cairo district of Helwan.
Rallies set out from several mosques in the eastern Cairo districts of Nasr City and Ein Shams, amid chants against the military.
Pro-democracy protests were also organized in the canal city of Suez, the coastal city of Alexandria and the central provinces of Beni Sueif and Minya.
Friday's rallies were called by the pro-Morsi National Alliance for the Defense of Legitimacy to mark six months since the dispersal of the pro-democracy protest camps.
Morsi supporters have been staging almost daily rallies since the July 3 ouster of the elected president by the military following mass protests against his presidency.
