BAGHDAD
At least 12 people have been killed and 34 injured in two bomb attacks carried out by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant militants in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
Security officials told Anadolu Agency that a bomb car exploded in Al-Sadr district, eastern Baghdad on Wednesday night, killing 11 people, including the militant driving it, and injuring 28 others.
One person was killed and six others injured in a second bomb attack in Al-Sadun Street, central Baghdad.
ISIL claimed responsibility for the attacks in a statement published on a Facebook account, which described the suicide bomber as a martyr.
ISIL controls large swathes of territory in Iraq, and for months has been fighting Kurdish security and Iraqi government forces.
A U.S.-led international coalition is staging air attacks against ISIL targets in attempt to help Kurdish and Iraqi forces.
