Army troops fired back at the assailants, witnesses told the Anadolu Agency.
No word was immediately available on casualties.
Five police and army troops were killed Friday in attacks on security checkpoints in the volatile region.
The violence came two days after the overthrow of Mohammad Morsi, Egypt’s first democratically elected president, by the army.
At least 25 people were killed in clashes between Morsi’s supporters and opponents in Egypt on Friday.
