RAFAH, Gaza Strip
Egyptian authorities have deported four Palestinian detainees to the Hamas-governed Gaza Strip, a Palestinian security source said Friday.
"Egyptian authorities handed over the four Palestinians[to Gaza authorities] on Thursday, including one who was injured," the source told Anadolu Agency.
The four Palestinians, all of them from the strip's southern city of Rafah, were detained last month after entering Egyptian territory through a cross-border tunnel, the security source said.
According to the source, one of the detainees was injured when Egyptian military personnel opened fire at them as they attempted to enter Egypt.
Egyptian officials were not immediately available for comment.
The Egyptian media frequently reports the arrest of Palestinians allegedly involved in violent acts in Egypt–accusations categorically denied by Hamas.
