DAMASCUS
Forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad used heavy weapons in their operations against opponents in various cities on Sunday, killing 95 people including 19 children and eight women.
In a statement, the UK-based Syria National Human Rights Watchdog (SNHR) said the regime forces staged air attacks on the opposition controlled areas and killed 39 people in the suburbs of Damascus, 17 in Dera, 15 in Aleppo, 13 in Homs, 8 in Hama, one in each Ar-Raqqah, Deru’z Zor and Idlib.
The Local Coordination Committees of Syria (LCC) reported that the regime army staged heavy armed attacks in Yebrud regions of Damascus as well as Darayya, Barza and Jobar demolishing many buildings.
The regime forces supported by Hezbollah staged air atacks with fighter jets and helicopters on the opposition controlled Kalamun region, and regime forces also dropped barrel bombs on the opposition controlled areas of Aleppo.
Meanwhile, Syria's state-run SANA news agency reported that the Yebrud region of Damascus got out of Assad's control, and a large number of the armed forces were neutralized in Aleppo and Homs.
More than 100,000 people have been killed during the three-year conflict, which has also internally displaced more than 6.5 million people, according to the UN. Over two million are now registered as refugees in neighboring Turkey, Lebanon and Iraq.
