Five wounded Ukrainian soldiers were returned to Ukraine, Russia's ombudswoman announced on Monday, the country's state news agency reported.

"Today, five wounded servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been repatriated to Ukraine. We continue to work in this direction," Tatyana Moskalkova said, according to TASS.

The Ukrainian side also handed over five wounded Russian soldiers to Moscow at the end of March, Moskalkova added, noting that the injured soldiers were receiving treatment.

"I wish them a speedy recovery and I believe that they will soon return to their families and friends, who will greet them as real heroes," Moskalkova said.
